German-jewish immigrant Levi Strauss moved to San Francisco and founded the Levi’s brand in 1853. A the time, Levi’s was different from other denim brands because it had copper rivets in the jeans.

Originally, Levi’s jeans were worn by workers like lumberjacks, cowboys and railroad workers. However, in the 1950’s, Levis became popular among the younger generations, specifically among groups of rockers, hippies and greasers.
